to determine how this began, good morning, christian. >> reporter: those firefighters are still trying to get to the bottom of this. you can see it on the scene here trying to see exactly what is going on monitoring the situation here. the fire is out but they are monitoring for hot spots making sure this fire does not flare- up again. i spoke at the supply store, it is packed with goods and that's one of the reasons they are still here on the scene. it was a major fire and the alarm went out at about 12:30. crews arrived to find heavy smoke. they went to work trying to put out the fire. it went to 3 alarms and they had about 40 firefighters in all. they finally got it under control at about 4:15, they are trying to figure out how this

fire started in the first place. you might see there is a 24 hour fitness, right next to this supply company. that fire forced the evacuation of a 24 hour fitness. when we arrived on the scene they are still turning customers away, we are not clear on when they will start allowing customers to go to that 24 hour fitness. we will continue monitoring the situation and for now we are here, christian captain, ktvu channel 2 morning news. we are getting some new video of an overnight fire in the bay view district. firefighters put out a fire at a home in shafter street. an unattended candle sparked

the fire. it sent two people to the hospital and one has very serious injuries because of a brawl. how many people were involved in this, allie? >> reporter: well, according to police as many as 20 but according to a neighbor who saw this fight happen, he told us it was at least 20, possibly 30 people. now this fight happened in the middle of the street you are looking at. up until just before 4:30 they had this entirely closed for this two hour investigation. police say it started at 2:00 a.m. just as the bars were getting out and one of the victims ended up going to the icu with life-threatening injuries. a second man was taken to the hospital although he is expected to be okay. they don't know what triggered

this fight and it ended with a brawl which handed out in the middle of the street. police don't know who started the fight, they have not made any arrests yet but they are looking for the people responsible. allie rasmus ktvu channel 2 morning news. time now 5:03, president barack obama and mitt romney will hold their second debate in new york. coming up, the very important group of candidates they hope to win over to in tonight's debate. the 52-year-old stevens is one of the four americans killed during the september 11th attack on ben -- in benghazi libya. the memorial begins at 4:30 in the city hall rotunda.

the pentagon and state department want to help libya create a force to attack the militia in benghazi. the money was budgeted for pakistan and in order to build anee light force -- an elite force they could have over 200 troops. they are shocked by the department's lack of progress. the police department took a step back falling out of come by answer with being able to track officers engaging in bad behavior. it is a last report before a judge hears more and decides to place the department under federal control. they are deciding whether to host the super bowl in 2016

. welcome back, less than an hour ago we learned they have blocked the area after he is accused of going on a rampage going into the u.s. military and space station back in 2001 and 2002. he claims he did it to find alien life. it was blocked and many are sic together six dust after -- toxic dust after the attacks. it all hoe case more than 4 -- allow case more than $4 billion but they could lose $38 million with budget cuts. activists are asking to protect those funds.

went missing shortly after that. we will show you this photo of the plane which is being searched. it is an a-240 with a pilot on board. the pilot identified and indicates his plane went down near the half-moon bay airport and coast guard started searching yesterday and they are still hoping they can find this pilot alive. now the coast guard searches for -- >> we have survivability models and we always conduct searches for much longer than people have for survivability. right now we are still in the search phase and like i said we have not found any sign of wreckage. >> he reported he was missing and he was supposed to arrive just out of tucson but he never

filed a complaint against the bus company and its owner. natasha of santa cruz was killed in july. visioners ran out of the bus and they and their owners neglected safety standards. they left six people wounded in about six hours. the latest happened 9:45 last night. two men were walking out of a liquor store when they were shot. one of the victims is said to be in critical condition. police are also investigating leaving 4 wounded yesterday. so far no arrests in any of those cases. the 21-year-old man became oakland's 100th homicide
